17 Supreme Natural Hair Tips For Better Hair Growth!

The thing with natural hair is, once you focus more on maintaining its health, length will come.
So, with that being said, here are some healthy hair tips and habits you should practice, which will ultimately help you reach any hair length goals you might have.
Natural Hair Advice #1 Feed Your Hair Right
Healthy natural hair starts from within. So, but you should include healthy fruits and veggies in your diet and drink lots of water (I know, it’s hard, right?!).
If your someone who has a hard time with vegetables, blending up a fruit and veggie smoothie (Love those smoothies) is an easy and tasty way to get your daily dose.
This will give your hair follicles the nutrients needed to help your curls thrive.
2. Don’t Skip Your Vitamins
A daily supplement will work along with your diet to fill in whatever nutrients you might be lacking and promote healthy hair growth. We all want long, natural hair, right?!
3. Take It Easy With Heat
It is said that too much of a good thing can be bad for you.
Too much heat too often can lead to damage, and eventually, your hair won’t revert back to its natural state.
Again, too much or improper use of heat can lead to dry, brittle hair, breakage, and split ends.
So you should be careful with your technique and how much you use.
Here are a few tips to help you with using heat:
- Use heat tools that have clear settings (not just “on/off”), and use the low or medium settings at most.
- Prepare your hair for heat styling at the cleansing and conditioning stage to make sure it is well hydrated.
- Always use a heat protectant girl! This will serve as a barrier between your natural hair tool and your hair to prevent damage.
4. Cleanse Hair & Scalp Regularly
Yes, healthy natural hair starts from within, but it also needs a clean, healthy environment from which to grow.
If your hair and scalp is dirty and full of buildup it can clog pores and follicles and essentially slow down healthy growth.
You can decide how often you wash your hair, depending on your daily routine (If you work out daily), how much product you use, etc.
5. Use Fingertips When Cleansing
You should be using your fingernails when you are washing your hair because it could cause unnecessary damage to the scalp.
The pads of your fingers, along with a little pressure, is all you need for a thorough cleanse.
6. Try A Sulfate-Free Shampoo
Since shampoos containing sulfates strip your hair of its natural moisture, reach for a moisturizing shampoo to gently cleanse while moisturizing your natural hair.
7. Deep Condition is a Must Sis!
Your hair needs help in the moisture because of the shape of your hair.
So, after your wash routine, continue with a good deep conditioner to infuse moisture into the hair.
8. Use Deep Conditioner As Instructed
Overnight conditioning may be great and famous, but it’s unnecessary, and it could cause damage to your hair.
You shouldn’t be leaving your deep conditioner on for longer than the time period recommended in the directions.
9. Gently Detangle From End to Root
Our natural hair needs lots of love and care. When getting the tangles out, start from the very ends, then slowly and gently work your way up to the roots to cut down on breakage.
10. Moisturize & Seal.. The Routine That Works Great!
Continuing the routine by applying product to your natural hair while it’s still damp is the most effective way to retain moisture.
Use a leave-in conditioner with your choice of styler, along with an organic hair oil to seal in moisture, to keep your natural hair healthy, soft, and manageable.
11. Get Regular Trims is Key!
Trimming your hair gets rid of broken and split ends that could lead to more damage.
Trim about once every season or as needed in order to keep your hair at its healthiest.
12. Wear Protective Styles More Often
Go for it by tucking your natural hair away in styles that require little to no manipulation for a few days or a few months! It will help you retain more length.
13. Protect The Hair At Night Even When Your Tired
Keep your natural hair moisturized and less prone to breakage by wrapping it up with a satin or silk scarf or bonnet at night.
If you prefer to leave your natural hair free, a satin pillowcase will do just fine!
14. Massage Your Scalp
A soothing scalp massage every few nights will help stimulate your natural hair follicles and help with blood flow to the scalp to encourage healthy growth.
15. Don’t Stress Sis!
Not super easy but the best thing you can do for your natural hair is to simply relax.
No matter what may be worrying you remember that stress will often show up in our skin as well as your hair.
So try to reduce your stress as much as possible.
The health of your hair is more important than how long it is.
Focus on its health and before you even realize it, the length will come!
16. Use a wide-tooth comb, never a brush, to detangle.
Your curly hair is the most fragile type and each curl is a potential breaking point, so, using a wide-tooth comb is the gentlest way to detangle your tresses and it doesn’t disrupt the natural curl pattern as much as a brush would!
17. Always comb your hair from the bottom up.
Starting at the bottom allows you to gently detangle each knot, rather than compounding them all toward the bottom and yanking your way through with a comb.
